SonarNext is the IT infrastructure business of Sonar Technologies International.

SonarNext by Sonar Technologies International

Implementation that ends with a working site, not a delivery docket

Surveys, staging, installation, commissioning, application testing, device management and training — delivered by one accountable team so the solution you bought is the solution that runs.

Engineers staging and commissioning equipment during an IT rollout

How a rollout runs

Six stages, agreed before the first box is opened

Most failed deployments are not hardware failures. They are missed surveys, untested applications and staff who were never shown the device. Each stage below has an owner, a date and an exit test.

  1. Scope & site survey

We walk the site, confirm what the solution has to talk to, and run an RF wireless site survey where coverage matters. Findings, not assumptions, drive the design.

  2. Design & package selection

Access-point placement, cabling, switching, device models and software licensing are specified against the requirement — with advice on which package actually fits before anything is ordered.

  3. Staging & configuration

Devices are imaged, configured, enrolled, asset-labelled and burnt in on our bench. Equipment arrives on site ready to work instead of ready to be set up.

  4. Installation & commissioning

Mounting, cabling, wireless installation and commissioning done around your operating hours, then verified against the survey so coverage matches the design.

  5. Application load & test

Line-of-business applications, terminal emulation and printing are loaded and tested on real devices, in the real environment, before anyone depends on them.

  6. Training & handover

End-user training for the people using the gear daily, documentation you own, and a support path — web fault logging, phone and onsite — from day one.

Infrastructure integration & support

The hands-on work that turns equipment into infrastructure

Our network and data communication engineers commission the wired and wireless infrastructure your operation runs on — then stay reachable once it is live.

  • Wireless installation & commissioning
  • Terminal emulation & Wavelink commissioning
  • Staging, imaging & enrolment of devices
  • Application load & test on production hardware
  • RF wireless site surveys & validation
  • End-user training
  • Onsite support & scheduled attendance
  • Web access for fault logging
  • Hardware support & warranty coordination

Coverage design for racked and refrigerated environments is covered in detail under warehouse networking & wireless, and new-site cabling and comms rooms under warehouse IT fit-outs.

Mobile device management

Control of every device, from one console

Deploy, secure, integrate and manage the smartphones, tablets, rugged handhelds and laptops your team relies on — without chasing devices around the building.

Comprehensive monitoring

Device health, connectivity, battery condition and app state visible across the fleet from one console.

Remote lock & wipe

Lost scanner or stolen laptop locked or wiped remotely, so operational data does not walk out the gate.

Push messaging

Send text messages and instructions straight to devices on the floor without pulling anyone off task.

Device restrictions

Lock devices to the applications and settings the job needs, and nothing else.

Alerts & failover

Alerting on faults and offline devices, with failover configured so a single failure does not stop picking.

Fleet-wide updates

Applications, configuration and OS updates staged and pushed centrally instead of device by device.

Enterprise wireless & site survey

A corporate network that is ready for mobile devices

An enterprise wireless network is only as good as the survey behind it. We measure signal, interference, roaming and density in the environment as it actually operates — full racking, running plant, doors opening — then design access-point placement against that data rather than a floor plan.

Surveys are walked and validated in Ekahau by certified engineers — certification current to Wi-Fi 7 (802.11be) — so the heatmaps and measurement data behind the design are the same ones handed to you at the end. After commissioning we re-survey to confirm coverage matches the plan, tune roaming, and keep firmware, certificates and capacity current as the site changes.

Measured, not estimated Coverage is walked in Ekahau before an access point is mounted — and again after, to prove the design held.
  • Ekahau-certified engineers, current to Wi-Fi 7
  • RF site survey & heat mapping in Ekahau
  • Access-point placement & density design
  • Controller, SSID & roaming configuration
  • Post-installation coverage validation
  • Proactive maintenance & firmware currency
  • Survey data & configuration handed over to you

Systems & API integration

Making the new solution talk to the systems you keep

A rollout rarely lands in an empty environment. Scanners have to reach the WMS, devices have to authenticate against your directory, and data has to arrive in the system your finance team already trusts. We handle that integration layer — with the Sonar Technologies International applications team where business-system work is involved.

That includes advising on which package to buy in the first place, testing before cutover, and retiring the legacy system properly once the replacement is proven.

  • Package selection advisory
  • Implementation & support
  • Multi-site and national rollouts
  • Development & testing
  • Maintenance & version upgrades
  • Reimplementation of underperforming systems
  • Legacy system sunsetting

Cloud & ongoing management

Implementation does not end at go-live

Once a site is running, someone has to patch it, monitor it, back it up and answer the phone when something breaks. Scheduled maintenance, administrative tasks, backup planning and system monitoring can be picked up as part of the project handover or run as an ongoing agreement.

See managed IT services & support for how that works, or ask us to quote the implementation on its own — there is no requirement to sign a support agreement to have SonarNext deliver a rollout.

FAQs

Common questions

How do SonarNext implementation services work?

You get a dedicated project team and a single point of contact. We agree the scope, schedule, access requirements and acceptance criteria up front, then survey, stage, install, commission, test and hand over. The same engineers who designed the solution are the ones who commission it.

We want to set up wireless across an office and other premises. Where do you start?

With an RF wireless site survey. Our enterprise wireless engineers are Ekahau certified, with certification current to Wi-Fi 7 (802.11be), and they measure the actual environment to identify where access points need to go, what cabling is required, and where interference or building materials will cause problems. The survey becomes the design, and we validate coverage against it after installation.

Can you roll out to multiple sites across Australia?

Yes. Multi-site and national rollouts are standard work for us: devices are staged and configured centrally to one build, then deployed site by site to an agreed schedule so every location ends up consistent and supportable.

Do you implement mobile device management?

Yes. We deploy and configure mobile device management so smartphones, tablets, rugged handhelds and laptops can be monitored, restricted, updated, locked and wiped centrally. The Sonar Technologies International team has deployed platforms including SOTI and Wavelink in operational environments for years.

Do you support wireless barcode scanners and printers?

Yes. Rugged scanners, mobile computers, wireless label printers and tablets are core to the environments we work in. We supply them, stage and enrol them, load and test the applications and printing, then support them in production.

Can you integrate with our ERP, WMS or business systems?

Yes. SonarNext delivers the infrastructure and device layer, and works alongside the Sonar Technologies International applications team on the business-system side — including integration, API work, upgrades and sunsetting legacy systems. One engagement, one accountable team.
